sun2surf | The so-called “One-Million People Protest” against the fuel price hike held at the Kelana Jaya stadium got off to a slow start yesterday morning but picked up pace in the evening.
The crowd swelled to more than 20,000 by the time Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took over the mike slightly after 10.
Anwar challenged the prime minister and deputy prime minister to the debate over fuel price hike on July 15.
He said many have doubted him if he really has the formula to lower the fuel price.
“Now I will tell the formula straight to them (Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak).
“I am even willing to face the cabinet for the debate (initiated by Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek),” he told the rally.
Anwar also said now that he has decided to attend the debate, he hoped the TV station would not try to stop the debate from going on air.
On the development of his sodomy case, Anwar said he is willing to swear in the name of God.
