malaysianinsider | The family of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s estranged male aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari are angry with the opposition leader for delaying and refusing to cooperate with the police, and today joined the government in urging him to cooperate in the matter.

“My son has shown courage because the truth is on his side. And without hesitation he has given full cooperation in assisting the police in the investigation, unlike his former employer who is full of excuses, ” said Azlan Mohd Lazim in a statement read out by Mohd Saiful Bukhari’s lawyer Zamri Idrus at a news conference here.

Anwar has denied the 23-year-old university dropout’s accusation, saying it is politically motivated and a repeat of events 10 years ago that cost him a stab at succeeding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister. Saiful’s family called fthe media saying Anwar’s uncooperative attitude was hindering investigations into his sodomy report last June.

“My family and I urge the individual involved to give full cooperation to the police investigation,” Azlan added.

When asked, Zamri said Saiful’s father and the whole family hope that Anwar would give fresh DNA samples to the police, echoing calls made by government leaders including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, within the last few days.
